BIOGRAPHY

 

Michele A. Miller is a writer of plays, screenplays, fiction, and occasional poetry who tends to write comedies and satire about painful personal or socio-political issues. Michele’s play, Real Estate, was a semi-finalist in the American Theatre Coop Playwriting Contest and her one-act, Products of Conception, was produced in the Estrogenius and Strawberry Festivals. New Perspectives Theatre Company (NPTC) produced her one-act Power Girls Support Group and her full-length comedy, Mother of God!, a Princess Grace Awards finalist, which was recently published by Next Stage Press. During the pandemic Michele’s plays were presented virtually by Primary Stages, Naked Angels, Theatre Resources Unlimited, Fringe Black Box Festival, The Drawing Board, ScriptRead and On Stage/Off-Stage (audio). Her short play, Gone Fishing Gone, was produced by The Sharon Playhouse in Sharon, CT as part of the 2021 Writers Playground Festival and was recently published by YouthPlays. Her 2021 short film Change of Plans, screened at many international film festivals, including Chelsea Film Festival and Diversity at Cannes Film Festival and received awards for ‘Best Writing’ and ‘Best Covid Screenplay’. Her full-length play, Jane Doe, was a finalist for The Depot’s reading series and a monologue from that play by the character Ruby Love was published by Smith & Kraus in WE/US: Monologues for Gender Minority Characters Anthology. Her latest full-length play, A Final Toast, was semifinalist of the Garry Marshall New Works Festival (CA) and TRU Voices (NY), finalist at the Ashland New Plays Festival (NC) and B-Street Theatre New Comedies Festival (CA) and honorable mention of the Ephiphanies/Wild Imaginings Festival (TX).
